Bedroom: two-way switch, indicator light and bedside USB socket
The bedroom is where you control the light with your eyes closed. Everything comes down to gestures: switching off from the bed, finding the control in the dark, plugging in a phone without searching for a socket. Here are the mechanisms that belong there.
Switching off from the bed: the two-way switch
The ceiling light is controlled from the door and from the bed: the typical use of a two-way switch. It goes on the door side at hand height, and within arm's reach on each side of the bed. In a double bedroom, two two-way switches on a double plate let each person manage their own reading light.
Finding the control in the dark: the indicator light
A built-in indicator light marks the control in the dark, without lighting the room. It is useful at night, in the bedroom hallway and in the adjoining bathroom. References CC23 (two-way switch with indicator) and CC13 (push button with indicator) are its simplest forms.
Plugging in without searching: the bedside USB
A USB socket on the bedside plate avoids the adapter and frees a power socket. For a narrow bedside table, a Thin plate leaves more room on the wall.
Which finish for a bedroom?
In a calm room, avoid overly sharp reflections: brushed brass or brushed stainless steel blends with textiles and wood, aged brass adds depth on a dark wall. Our article on finishes helps decide. Wiring is a job for a qualified electrician, who checks the circuit, the regulations and the compatibility with your installation.
