Kitchen and office: USB, RJ45 sockets and cable outlets

In the kitchen as at the office, the switch is only part of the wall: you also need to plug in, charge, connect. That is where plates get complicated, and where a consistent metal makes the difference between a tidy wall and a collection of white plastics.

Charging without using a power socket

A USB socket on the plate (kitchen, bedside, office) avoids the adapter and frees a power socket. It sits next to a switch or a socket, in the same metal, without changing the order of the wall.

The network: a tidy RJ45 socket

For a workstation, a television or a router, a wired connection remains the most stable. An RJ45 socket (or two, with the double version) fits into an Empereur plate. Place them at desk height or behind the media unit.

A cable outlet for wired appliances

For a wall light, a fixture or an appliance wired directly, the cable outlet (CC63 / CT63) provides a clean exit with no visible socket. It avoids leaving a bare wire sticking out and keeps the plate consistent.

Composing the plate

A few useful pairings: power socket and switch (S7), power socket and media (S7R), two media (S3R2). Each plate sets the space available: check the number of positions before choosing mechanisms. Wiring is a job for a qualified electrician, who checks the circuit, the regulations and the compatibility with your installation.

Frequently asked questions

Can I have a USB socket and a switch on the same plate?
Yes. Double and triple plates take switches, power sockets and media sockets side by side.
What is the difference between an RJ45 and a USB socket?
RJ45 is a wired network socket (internet, television, office). USB is for charging or powering a device.
What is a cable outlet for?
To connect a light fixture or an appliance directly, with a clean cable exit and no visible socket.
